CHW Calgary Walk supports the CHW S.O.S - Starting Over Safely Summer Campaign, a campaign dedicated to empowering victims of domestic violence. Did you know that globally, a woman or girl is killed every 11 minutes due to domestic violence? The statistics are staggering, and domestic violence continues to rise, affecting countless lives. This campaign supports two vital initiatives: (a) Franny's Fund in CANADA: Providing urgent help to parents and families navigating the aftermath of domestic abuse. Legal counsel and therapeutic counselling services will be accessible through Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, Ottawa, and Calgary centers. (b) WIZO Programs in ISRAEL: Offering a safety net for women and children leaving shelters, respite camps for children, and innovative initiatives like The Michal Sela Canines, which provide life-saving protection dogs to women under high-risk threat of intimate partner violence.
